These Terms of Service (“TOS”) govern access to and use of websites, content, programs, and services operated by The Natsuyasumi Project (株式会社夏休みプロジェクト), including the Natsu Project website at https://natsuproject.org (the “Site”), Perspective[S], and Natsu Camp.

​

For purposes of these TOS, “Natsu Project,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refers to The Natsuyasumi Project.

 

Certain provisions apply only to specific services. Sections specifically referring to Natsu Camp apply to applicants, enrolled participants, and, where applicable, their parents or legal guardians.

​

1. Acceptance & Scope of Terms

​

By accessing or using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the provisions of these TOS applicable to general Site use.

 

By submitting an application, accepting an offer of admission, making an enrollment payment, submitting content for publication, or otherwise participating in a specific Natsu Project program or service, you also agree to the additional provisions applicable to that program or service.

 

If you do not agree to the applicable terms, you should not use the relevant Site, program, or service.

​

2. Website Use

​

The Site is provided for informational, educational, editorial, application, and Program-related purposes.

 

You may access and use publicly available portions of the Site for lawful personal and educational purposes.

 

You may not:

​​

• use the Site for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or malicious purposes;

• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its systems, accounts, or data;

• interfere with or disrupt the operation, availability, or security of the Site;

• introduce malicious code or other harmful technology;

• use automated systems to extract substantial portions of Site content without authorization;

• impersonate Natsu Project, its staff, participants, contributors, or another person;

• knowingly submit false or materially misleading information through Natsu Project forms or applications; or

• use Natsu Project names, logos, or content in a manner that falsely suggests endorsement, affiliation, or authorization.

 

Natsu Project may restrict access to the Site or particular services where reasonably necessary to protect users, systems, intellectual property, or the operation of its programs and services.

​

We make reasonable efforts to keep information on the Site accurate and current, but information may be corrected, updated, replaced, or removed from time to time.

​

Specific terms contained in an admission offer, scholarship offer, participation agreement, or other document applicable to an individual participant may supplement general information published on the Site. In the event of a conflict with these TOS or general Site information, the applicable participant-specific documents will control to the extent of the conflict.

​

Natsu Project does not guarantee that the Site will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors.​

​

3. Perspective[S]

​

3.1 Editorial Platform

Perspective[S] is Natsu Project’s editorial platform for student and youth perspectives.

Views and opinions expressed in contributor-created articles, interviews, essays, creative works, or other materials belong to the individual contributor unless expressly stated otherwise.

Publication on Perspective[S] does not mean that Natsu Project, its staff, advisors, participants, partners, or affiliates endorse every statement, argument, organization, product, or external resource referenced in a contribution.

3.2 Contributor Submissions

A person submitting material to Perspective[S] represents that, to the best of their knowledge:

​

• they created the submitted material or otherwise have the necessary rights or permission to submit it;

• publication by Natsu Project will not unlawfully infringe another person’s copyright, privacy, or other rights;

• third-party quotations, images, data, or other materials are appropriately attributed and used with any permission required by law; and

• the submission does not knowingly contain materially false information presented as fact.

​

Where a contributor is a minor, Natsu Project may require permission from a parent or legal guardian before publication.

Submission does not guarantee publication.

​

3.3 Ownership & Publication License

Contributors retain ownership of the original copyright in work they create unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.

​

By agreeing to publication through Perspective[S], a contributor grants Natsu Project a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, edit for publication, format, publish, display, distribute, archive, and promote the accepted work in connection with Perspective[S] and Natsu Project.

​

This includes reasonable use of the work, excerpts, titles, contributor names, and associated images on Natsu Project websites, social media, newsletters, promotional materials, and archives.

​

This license does not transfer ownership of the contributor’s work to Natsu Project, and the contributor remains free to use or publish their work elsewhere unless otherwise separately agreed.

​

3.4 Editorial Discretion

Natsu Project retains editorial discretion over whether, when, where, and how material is published on Perspective[S].

​

Natsu Project may edit accepted submissions for clarity, grammar, length, formatting, accessibility, factual accuracy, style, and consistency with editorial standards.

​

Where an edit would materially alter a contributor’s substantive viewpoint, Natsu Project will ordinarily seek the contributor’s approval before publication.

​

Natsu Project may decline, postpone, correct, update, unpublish, archive, or remove content where reasonably appropriate, including because of factual concerns, legal or rights issues, privacy or safety concerns, changed circumstances, or editorial considerations.

​

Publication or removal of a contribution does not create a right to payment unless compensation was expressly agreed in writing.

​​

4. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the Natsu Project name, Natsu Camp name, Perspective[S] name, logos, website design, graphics, curricula, educational materials, photographs, text, and other original materials created by Natsu Project are owned by Natsu Project or used with permission from the applicable rights holder.

​

Except for ordinary personal or educational use permitted by law, users may not reproduce, commercially exploit, distribute, republish, or publicly present Natsu Project materials without authorization.

​

Nothing in these TOS automatically transfers ownership to Natsu Project of original work created by participants or Perspective[S] contributors. Such material is governed by the applicable contributor agreement, participation agreement, consent form, or other permission.

​

5. Privacy

Natsu Project may collect personal information through applications, enrollment forms, scholarship applications, contact forms, contributor submissions, surveys, and other interactions with the Site and Natsu Project programs.

​

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable law, Natsu Project’s Privacy Policy↗, and any additional notices provided when information is collected.

​

Where personal information is collected for a particular purpose, Natsu Project may provide additional information regarding that purpose through the relevant form, application, or enrollment materials.

​

6. Third-Party Websites & Services

The Site and Natsu Project programs may use or link to websites, payment processors, application platforms, accommodation providers, transportation providers, publications, social media platforms, or other services operated by third parties.

​

Unless expressly stated otherwise, a link or reference to a third party does not mean that Natsu Project owns or controls that service or endorses all content provided through it.

​

Use of third-party services may be subject to separate terms, policies, and privacy practices established by the applicable provider.

​​

​

Natsu Camp 2027 Terms​

The following provisions apply specifically to Natsu Camp 2027 (the “Program”).

​

7. Program Overview

Program: Natsu Camp 2027
Location: Okinawa, Japan
Format: Two-week hybrid program consisting of an online pre-residential week followed by a residential week in Okinawa

Final Program dates, designated arrival and dismissal locations, and other logistical details will be stated in the applicable Program materials and enrollment documents.

​

Natsu Camp 2027 is an intensive educational and experiential program combining interdisciplinary learning, project-based work, cultural exchange, community engagement, fieldwork, creative activities, and communal residential living.

​​

7.1  Week 1: Online Pre-Residential

The online component includes or may include:

​

• Guided readings;

• short peer discussion posts;

• a one-hour live Impact Lab session;

• pre-arrival residential briefing; and

• instructor Q&A support.

​​

7.2  Week 2: Residential in Okinawa

The residential component includes or may include:

​

• mentor-led classroom lessons;

• guest speaker sessions;

• informal networking opportunities;

• small-group project mentorship;

• local community engagement;

• a fieldwork team budget;

• creative workshops and activities;

• Program-arranged excursions;

• Program-arranged local transportation;

• shared accommodation and meals; and

• 24-hour staff presence.

​

Specific activities, instructors, mentors, speakers, locations, schedules, accommodation arrangements, transportation arrangements, and fieldwork plans may be changed, substituted, postponed, or cancelled based on educational, logistical, safety, weather, community, staffing, availability, or other operational considerations.

​

Natsu Project will make reasonable efforts to deliver the Program as substantially described and, where changes are necessary, to provide a reasonably comparable alternative where practicable.

​

Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Okinawa.

​​​

8. Program Fee & Enrollment

​

8.1 Program Fee

The standard Natsu Camp 2027 Program Fee is: JPY 498,000

 

A separate JPY 1,500 registration fee is payable at enrollment.

 

The Program Fee covers participation in both the online and residential components.

 

It includes, as applicable:

​

• educational programming and materials;

• mentor-led lessons and project support;

• guest speaker sessions;

• Program-organized workshops and activities;

• community engagement and fieldwork;

• a designated fieldwork team budget;

• Program-arranged excursions;

• Program-arranged local transportation during scheduled Program activities;

• shared accommodation during the residential component; and

• meals provided as part of the Program schedule.

​

Fieldwork budgets are Program resources provided for approved team project expenses. They may not be used for personal purchases or purposes unrelated to approved fieldwork. Unused funds remain the property of Natsu Project.

 

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Program Fee does not include:

​

• international or domestic transportation to or from Okinawa;

• airfare;

• passport or visa-related expenses;

• travel or personal insurance;

• personal purchases or incidental expenses;

• transportation outside Program-arranged activities;

• meals outside those provided as part of the Program schedule; or

• costs incurred before the designated arrival time or after the Program concludes.

​

Participants are responsible for having reasonable access to a suitable device and internet connection for the online component.

​​

8.2 Enrollment Confirmation

Applicants who receive an offer of admission must secure their place within 48 hours by paying:

​

• a JPY 90,000 enrollment deposit; and

• a JPY 1,500 registration fee,

​

unless a different deadline or payment arrangement is expressly stated in the applicant’s offer of admission.

​

Enrollment-stage payment must be made by credit or debit card using the payment method provided by Natsu Project.

​

The JPY 90,000 enrollment deposit is applied toward the JPY 498,000 Program Fee. The registration fee is separate from and is not applied toward the Program Fee.

​

The enrollment deposit and registration fee are non-refundable except where expressly provided in these TOS or required by applicable law.

​

Failure to complete the required payment within the applicable deadline may result in the offer of admission expiring and the place being offered to another applicant.

​

8.3 Remaining Balance

After application of the JPY 90,000 enrollment deposit, the remaining standard Program Fee balance is: JPY 408,000

​

The remaining balance must be received by Natsu Project via bank transfer no later than March 31, 2027.

​

Applicants admitted after March 31, 2027 will receive an individual payment deadline.

​

Participants are responsible for bank transfer charges, intermediary bank charges, currency conversion costs, and similar transaction fees and must ensure that the full amount due is received by Natsu Project.

Failure to complete payment by the applicable deadline may result in cancellation of enrollment and loss of the participant’s reserved place.

​

Detailed enrollment documents, health and accommodation information, travel guidance, and payment instructions will be provided after enrollment.

​

9. Cancellation & Refund Policy

​

9.1 General Participant Cancellation Policy

Except as expressly provided in these TOS or as otherwise required by applicable law, all payments are non-refundable, including:

​

• the enrollment deposit;

• the registration fee; and

• any amount paid toward the remaining Program Fee balance.

​

The enrollment deposit is non-refundable in cases of participant cancellation and is excluded from the emergency and visa-denial refund provisions below.

​

Failure or inability to participate because of personal scheduling conflicts, changes in plans, school obligations, transportation problems, missed flights, travel delays, failure to obtain necessary travel documents other than a qualifying visa denial under Section 9.3, or a participant’s decision not to attend does not ordinarily entitle the participant to a refund.

​​

Late arrival, early departure, or absence from individual Program activities does not ordinarily result in a prorated refund.

​

If Natsu Project cancels the entire Program for reasons within its reasonable control and does not provide a substantially equivalent replacement, payments made for the cancelled Program will be refunded, subject to applicable law.

​

Force Majeure Events are governed separately by Section 11.

​

9.2 Documented Emergencies

In the case of a documented emergency that prevents a participant from attending the Program, Natsu Project may consider, in good faith and on a case-by-case basis, a refund of some or all of the remaining balance paid, excluding the enrollment deposit and registration fee.

​

Examples may include serious illness, a serious family emergency, or another comparably significant circumstance outside the participant’s reasonable control.

​

A refund under this subsection is not guaranteed.

​

Participants requesting consideration must notify Natsu Project in writing as soon as reasonably practicable and provide supporting documentation reasonably requested by Natsu Project.

​

In considering a request, Natsu Project may take into account the nature and timing of the emergency, Program services already provided, and costs already incurred or committed in connection with the participant’s enrollment.

​

9.3 Visa Denial Policy

This subsection applies to participants who are required to obtain a visa to enter Japan for participation in Natsu Camp 2027.

​

If a participant is unable to attend Natsu Camp solely because their visa application is denied, they may be eligible for a partial refund of the remaining balance paid, excluding the non-refundable enrollment deposit and registration fee, provided that:

​

• the participant applied for the appropriate visa in a timely manner;

• the participant complied with all applicable visa requirements;

• the participant submits official documentation of the visa denial issued by the relevant embassy or consulate; and

• the participant notifies Natsu Project in writing within five (5) calendar days of the date shown on the visa denial notice.

 

If the participant receives the denial notice after the date shown on the document because of delivery or processing delays, the participant must notify Natsu Project as soon as reasonably practicable and provide supporting documentation where reasonably available.

​

If these conditions are satisfied, the following refund schedule applies:

​

• Visa denial dated on or before June 6, 2027: 75% of the remaining balance paid will be refunded.

• Visa denial dated June 7–19, 2027: 50% of the remaining balance paid will be refunded.

• Visa denial dated on or after June 20, 2027: no refund will be issued.

 

These percentages apply only to amounts paid toward the remaining Program Fee balance. The enrollment deposit and registration fee remain non-refundable.

​

A participant is not eligible for a refund under this subsection where inability to attend results from circumstances other than visa denial, including failure to apply in sufficient time, failure to provide required documents, withdrawal or abandonment of a visa application, passport issues, failure to follow applicable visa procedures, transportation disruption, or a personal decision not to attend.

​

10. Scholarships & Access Grants

Natsu Project may provide financial support through the NATSU Global Scholarship, NATSU Japan Access Grant, or other awards announced for Natsu Camp 2027. Awards may differ in amount and conditions. Terms stated in an individual scholarship or grant offer form part of that participant’s enrollment terms.

​

10.1 NATSU Global Scholarship

Unless otherwise specified in the scholarship offer, students receiving a NATSU Global Scholarship must secure their place by paying:

​

• a JPY 50,000 enrollment deposit; and

• a JPY 1,500 registration fee.

​

The enrollment deposit will be applied toward any Program Fee remaining after the scholarship award.

​

The applicable payment deadline will be stated in the scholarship offer.

​

Except where the scholarship offer expressly states otherwise, payments made by scholarship recipients are subject to the cancellation and refund provisions of these TOS.

​

10.2 Full NATSU Global Scholarship

Students receiving a full NATSU Global Scholarship (100% tuition waiver) are generally required to pay the JPY 50,000 deposit and JPY 1,500 registration fee described in Section 10.1. For these recipients, the JPY 50,000 deposit will be treated as an attendance deposit and refunded following successful completion of Natsu Camp, unless otherwise specified in the scholarship offer. The registration fee remains non-refundable.

​

For this purpose, successful completion generally requires meaningful participation in required online and residential Program activities and compliance with reasonable Program participation expectations, subject to excused absences or other circumstances accepted by Natsu Project.

​

Where residential programming is replaced by online programming under Section 11.3, participation in applicable replacement programming may form part of the completion requirements.

​

10.3 NATSU Japan Access Grant

Students receiving a NATSU Japan Access Grant are subject to the standard enrollment deposit and registration fee requirements described in Section 8.2 unless otherwise expressly stated.

​

The standard enrollment deposit is applied toward the participant’s reduced Program Fee after the grant has been applied.

The participant’s remaining Program Fee and balance due will be communicated separately.

​

10.4 Accuracy of Financial Aid Information

Natsu Project may revoke or revise a scholarship or grant if materially false, misleading, or incomplete information is discovered in the participant’s application or financial aid materials.

​

Financial support does not exempt recipients from Program rules, participation requirements, payment obligations not covered by their award, or other enrollment conditions.

​

11. Program Changes, Force Majeure & Severe Weather

​

11.1 Ordinary Program Changes

Natsu Project may make reasonable changes to the Program schedule, activities, instructors, mentors, guest speakers, fieldwork locations, accommodation arrangements, local transportation, meals, or other operational details where necessary for educational, logistical, safety, weather-related, staffing, community, or similar reasons.

​

Participation by any particular instructor, mentor, guest speaker, organization, institution, venue, community partner, or other third party is not guaranteed.

​

Changes to individual sessions, speakers, activities, excursions, fieldwork plans, meals, transportation arrangements, or similar Program elements do not by themselves entitle participants to a refund.

​

11.2 Force Majeure & Events Beyond Reasonable Control

The Program may be prevented, delayed, interrupted, or materially affected by circumstances beyond Natsu Project’s reasonable control, including but not limited to:

​

• earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, or other natural disasters;

• typhoons or other severe weather;

• fire or major infrastructure or utility failure;

• epidemics, pandemics, or public-health emergencies;

• war, terrorism, civil unrest, or serious security incidents;

• strikes or major transportation disruption;

• government actions, travel restrictions, evacuation orders, or mandatory closures;

• closure or unavailability of accommodation or Program facilities for reasons outside Natsu Project’s reasonable control; or

• other extraordinary events that Natsu Project could not reasonably prevent or control.

​

If such an event affects the Program, Natsu Project may, where reasonably practicable, modify, relocate, postpone, shorten, suspend, convert to online delivery, or cancel affected portions of the Program.

​

Natsu Project will make reasonable efforts to preserve the educational value of the Program and provide appropriate alternative programming where circumstances permit.

​

Except for the specific refund commitment under Section 11.3, any refund arising from a Force Majeure Event will be evaluated in good faith based on the circumstances, including:

​

• Program services already delivered;

• expenses already incurred or contractually committed;

• amounts that are non-refundable to Natsu Project;

• amounts Natsu Project is reasonably able to recover from accommodation providers, transportation providers, venues, contractors, and other third parties; and

• replacement programming or services provided to participants.

​

Natsu Project will make reasonable efforts to mitigate or recover third-party costs where practicable. However, participants acknowledge that accommodation, transportation, venue, staffing, activity, and other Program expenses may already have been paid or committed and may not be recoverable.

​

Accordingly, Natsu Project cannot guarantee that all or any particular portion of the Program Fee will be refundable following a Force Majeure Event. Depending on the circumstances and non-recoverable costs, a refund may be substantially reduced or may be zero.

​

Nothing in this subsection limits any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

​

11.3 Special Typhoon & Severe Weather Policy

Because the residential component of Natsu Camp 2027 takes place in Okinawa, participants specifically acknowledge that typhoons and related severe weather may affect the Program.

​

Natsu Project will make reasonable efforts to conduct residential programming as scheduled where it is safe and practicable to do so.

​

Individual activities, excursions, fieldwork, transportation, locations, or schedules may be changed, substituted, relocated, postponed, or cancelled because of weather conditions, transportation disruption, facility closures, official safety guidance, or related circumstances. Natsu Project will make reasonable efforts to preserve the overall educational experience and provide reasonably comparable alternatives where practicable. Changes to individual Program elements do not by themselves entitle participants to a refund.

 

If, because of a typhoon or related severe weather event, Natsu Project determines that the residential component as a whole, or a substantial portion of it, cannot safely or practicably be delivered in person, Natsu Project may convert the affected residential programming to online delivery.

​

In that circumstance, participants will receive a refund equal to 20% of the Program Fee applicable to that participant, excluding any registration fee.

​

For a participant paying the standard JPY 498,000 Program Fee, the refund will be JPY 99,600.

​

For participants receiving a scholarship, grant, or other reduction in the Program Fee, the refund will be calculated based on the Program Fee payable by that participant after the applicable award or reduction. A participant whose Program Fee is fully covered by a scholarship does not receive a cash tuition refund under this subsection.

​

The partial refund reflects the material change from residential to online delivery. Participants acknowledge that, by the time a severe-weather disruption occurs, substantial Program costs may already have been incurred or irrevocably committed, including accommodation, transportation, staffing and team travel, facilities, activities, materials, and other Program expenses. Natsu Project may also incur additional costs in developing and delivering replacement programming. Accordingly, cancellation or conversion of residential programming does not necessarily result in a corresponding reduction in the costs associated with delivering the Program.

​

Replacement online programming is not guaranteed to take place during the originally scheduled residential week. It will be arranged and delivered as soon as reasonably practicable after circumstances allow, taking into account participant and staff safety, operational conditions, staff and instructor availability, and the time reasonably required to reorganize the affected programming.

​

Natsu Project will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of the replacement schedule and to schedule live sessions at practicable times, taking into account the international nature of the cohort. Because participants may be located across multiple countries and time zones and may have other commitments after the originally scheduled Program dates, Natsu Project cannot guarantee that every replacement session will occur at a time convenient or suitable for every participant. Participants are responsible for making reasonable arrangements to participate in replacement programming once the revised schedule is announced.

​

Where reasonably practicable, Natsu Project may provide recordings, asynchronous activities, materials, or another method of completing a Program component where a participant cannot attend a particular live session. Natsu Project does not guarantee that every replacement activity can be provided asynchronously.

​

The 20% refund described in this subsection is the refund applicable to conversion of the residential component to online delivery due to a typhoon or related severe weather event. No additional refund will ordinarily be provided solely because replacement programming takes place on different dates from the originally scheduled residential week, because the revised schedule conflicts with an individual participant’s other commitments, or because a participant cannot attend a replacement session at their preferred time.

​

This subsection applies specifically where affected residential programming is converted to online delivery because of a typhoon or related severe weather event. Other Force Majeure Events, including circumstances in which the Program cannot reasonably be replaced or continued, are governed by Section 11.2.​​
